International Sculpture Symposium

Participation in the present contest is open to all artists of national and international scope. To be part of the selection it is essential to be of legal age.
The theme of the work is free.
The work must be executed exclusively in limestone of Gilena, or combined with any other type of material, but it should not exceed 25% of the work.
The limestone blocks will be borne by the Organization, there are limit to the size and volume of the work.
The artists must bring with them all the necessary tools and equipment for the development of their work.
The Symposium will be held outdoors, in urban spaces duly authorized for the development of the works.
The event will run from 15 to 29 September without interruption.

 

Selection

Once all the projects have been received, a specialized jury will proceed with the study and selection of three artists.
The Organization will contact the artists selected from 9 to 13 July 2018.
The hosting and maintenance of each of the selected will be borne by the Organization of the event during the time established for the execution of the work.
Travel expenses from the place of origin will be borne by the artists.
On September 29, 2018, the members of the jury will visit, analyze and evaluate each of the works; proceeding to the corresponding failure and delivery of prizes:
 

Awards

  • First selected work ... 2,000 euros.
  • Second selected work ... 1,000 euros.
  • Third selected work ........ 1,000 euros.

The first awarded work will go to the funds of the Stable Collection of the Gilena Museum Collection, while the second and third works will be part of the urban furniture of the town, all of them of municipal ownership.
 

How to apply

Artists who wish to participate must submit the following documentation:

  • Artistic curriculum in which it must be stated: Name, surname, ID number or passport number, date of birth, telephone, e-mail, location, address, zip code and country.
  • Project to be presented that will consist of a drawing and / or model in JPEG format, a brief description of the work and the necessary dimensions of the stone block that you wish to work with.

All the documentation previously exposed can be presented via email. The deadline for submitting projects will end on June 30, 2018.
