PLACES – SURFACES FESTIVAL

ITS LIQUID International Art and Architecture Festival
 

ITS LIQUID GROUP, in collaboration with Venice Events and Ca’ Zanardi, is selecting all interesting photo, video-art, painting, installation, performance art works, and design/architecture projects to include in PLACES – ITS LIQUID International Art and Architecture Festival.

PLACES is the second appointment of SURFACES FESTIVAL that will be hosted in Venice, at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi, from July 26, 2018 to September 13, 2018, and at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space, from July 27, 2018 to September 13, 2018, and other prestigious venues and historical buildings, during the same period of the BIENNALE ARCHITETTURA 2018 – 16th International Architecture Exhibition, with a rich program of different events until November 2018.

We will give audience the possibility to have private meetings with artists, architects and designers, to meet them personally and share their art and experience. Each exhibition will have a strong program of video art screenings and premiers, art residencies, talks, workshops, live dj set, live experimental dance and art performances.

SURFACES  FESTIVAL is organized and curated by (founder and director of THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space, ITS LIQUID GROUP and LUCA CURCI ARCHITECTS), in collaboration with Venice Events at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space, and organized and curated by (director of Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi) at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: PLACES - SURFACES FESTIVAL

PLACES are connected to the concept of time, memories, borders and disorders. Places are tangible and finite unit of space. We can experience places through body or senses. This division of the festival invites artists and architects to explore new grounds, searching a new vision of contemporary places, related to new human behaviors, city transformations and everyday life needs.

The festival focuses on the concept of SURFACES, borders and structures between body, mind and soul, the human identity and the city, the space and the ground. The festival analyzes the idea of human and urban places, how people live them and how they are modified in contemporary society. Every human being lives in a world in which surfaces shape their attitudes and behaviors, limiting freedom and creating a sense of alienation. The man reacts breaking the limits and finding a new way of life. We imagine a world of “liquid bodies and cities“, where differences create new possibilities, developing new structures, physical, intellectual and spiritual. The festival aims to analyze the relationship between body and space, and the hybridization between identities and cultural/physical/social/urban settings in contemporary time.

Each exhibition will present an exclusive selection of artworks, video screening program, intense live performances, with its own dedicated opening ceremony and PR campaign. At the end of the whole festival there will be the publication of a catalogue.

During these main events, will be presented works of photography, painting, sculpture/installation, design and architecture, video-art and live performance.
