Sculpture Symposium - St. Blasien
The town of St. Blasien and the Werbe- und Aktivkreis St. Blasien invite full-time artists to apply for participation in the Sculpture Symposium.
The international symposium, which is well known far beyond the borders of the country, is well organized and covered by the media and will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2022.
Work will take place under permanent tents in the streets of the cathedral city and on the Domplatz - in public and in front of the public. At the end of the week, the artworks will be presented on the Domplatz, where they will be auctioned off in a public auction on Sunday.
We look forward to receiving your application and hope to welcome you soon in St. Blasien. The call for applications and the necessary application documents for interested artists are available from the organizing committee of the sculpture symposium and on the homepage www.holzbildhauersymposium.de.
Please apply digitally and via the city's website. However, postal applications are also possible.
Professional artists only are eligible to participate. The theme for the work proposal to be submitted is free, an interpretation for the anniversary year is welcome.
The town of St. Blasien provides tree trunks in the dimensions 160-220 cm hight with a diameter of min. 40-ca. 60 cm in spruce or maple. Other types of wood may be used, but must be organised and financed by the participants themselves. In the anniversary year, combinations of wood with other materials (e.g. steel, glass or stone) are explicitly welcome. However, the material for combinations must be brought by the artists themselves. The town of St. Blasien will endeavor to reimburse a material cost subsidy of up to 200 euros by arrangement.
An independent jury will make a selection from the submitted proposals at the end of March 2022. The selected applicants will be informed of the result immediately. In addition, the jury's result will be published on the city's website.
A publication presenting all participating artists and their works is planned. The event will be covered by all media (TV, radio and press). An artist's fee of € 1,000.00 will be paid to each participant at the end of the symposium and after the creation of the work, a travel allowance will also be granted
