Call to action: Show us your perspective!
Calling all artists: As part of our "Perspective matters" campaign, we would like you to show us your individual perspective in the form of a work of art and to become part of something bigger.
Everything is a matter of perspective! Especially in three-dimensional art, it makes a huge difference from which point of view I look at a work of art. Each angle reveals something new, awakens different associations.
But the question of perspective goes much further. Countless external factors influence it: our environment, our biography, our family, our interests... we are often not even aware of all this. And for this very reason it is essential to change perspectives from time to time, both in social life and in art. This is precisely the aim of sculpture network's current campaign - and we would like to invite you to take part in it!
Looking ahead to start'19, with the motto "Three-dimensional Art and Society", we’re already searching for new perspectives! To be precise, we would like to see your perspective on the apostrophe from our logo for start'19. Show us how you see and visualise the apostrophe - whether you create it from wood, paper or chewing gum, whether 3 m high or in pocket format, whether colorful or monochrome. Or is it even an apostrophe …? Everything is allowed, every perspective is welcome.
The idea for the "Perspective matters" campaign emerged from our annual motto for 2019, "Three-dimensional Art and Society". The campaign should get us in the mood for this motto and for start'19. We chose the apostrophe from our start logo as our ambassador because it is precise, unambiguous and above all: two-dimensional. But if this inconspicuous sign is lifted into the third dimension, suddenly new possibilities arise.
A simple commonplace object like an apostrophe, which doesn’t carry a lot of meaning in itself, seems ideal to illustrate the huge variety of perspectives. That is why we are very curious to see what you will make of it! Take photos of your work - from several perspectives if you wish - and send them to us. Feel free to share your pictures on social media, too, using the hashtags #checkyourperspective and #sculpturenetwork.
We will publish all submissions on our website and our social media channels; with your permission, we will use the best submissions for our advertising material* for start'19.
Until August 27, 2018, you have the chance to share your perspective with us. In order to participate, you must be a member of sculpture network. We are looking forward to your submissions – please send them to: sophie.fendel@sculpture-network.org. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or comments!
