7th Symposium Fiss - Art on the Mountain
Art on the Mountain:
From 1st September to 22 nd September 2019
NEW 2019: We do start this year 2 weeks earlier and duration of the symposium: 3 weeks. Each artist should be present for at least 2 weeks. Individual timing of the artist
1. Organiser
Fisser Bergbahnen GmbH, and various sponsors
2. Participants
15 sculptors and various other artists shall be invited to the symposium. The participants may work as individual artists or as a team. Accompanying persons may be brought at their own expense.
Invitation to participate
- 15th May 2019: Registration deadline with CV, portrait photo, text, sketch, model photo, and size of the planned sculpture, website if available
- 10th June 2019: Selection of participants by the organising committee
- 25th June 2019: Confirmation of participation or letter of refusal to the sculptor Symposium
- From 1st September 2019: Independent arrival and setting up the site within the time frame
- Work on the sculptures from morning to evening  Â
- Independent departure
- Presentation: 22nd September 2019 at 10 am at the Restaurant Bergdiamant. The artist is requested to attend.
- The organizer takes over at the vernissage, for the Participating artists, Lunch, dinner and one drink for each meal.

4. Sculptures
Every sculptor shall be provided with a block of marble and a larch or Swiss pine trunk in an unworked state. The dimensions specified by the sculptor can be roughly taken into account. Additional material is permitted, but the costs shall be borne by the participant.
5. Selection criteria
The designs shall be selected according to the following criteria:
- Idea and originality
- Feasibility (suitable for marble/wood)
- Technical effort
- Overall impression
- Use of the material provided

6. Equipment
- A 220 V power supply shall be provided, as well as compressed air (for connection, see photo).
- Workplace
- Fork-lift truck or similar vehicle available
- The sculptors must bring any other tools required themselves.

7. Working hours
From 9.00 am to 6.00 pm, programme subject to change
8. Services provided by the organiser
- Overnight stay in either the mountain restaurant at 2,400 metres above sea level or in the valley – the organiser shall decide.
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner; a drink with every meal, quantity of drinks in the evening to be agreed with the organiser
- Supporting programme
- Block of marble
- Swiss pine/larch trunk

9. Sculptor’s work
The sculptures are the property of the sculptor. However, they shall remain in Fiss for 2 years after their creation, and shall be exhibited outdoors at various places around the Bergdiamant Restaurant (marble works of art: 3 years).
The location shall be determined by the organiser. If the sculpture is sold, 10% of the sales price shall go to Fisser Bergbahnen. The sculptor must reimburse the organiser for the cost of the materials.
The price of the sculpture shall be determined by the sculptor. If the sculpture is not sold after 2 years, it may be collected free of charge.
After consultation, the sculptures may also be exhibited for longer if desired.
