FRESH AIR SCULPTURE SHOW
A celebration of contemporary sculpture
This biennial sculpture exhibition provides a unique opportunity to see a creative mixture of traditional, modern and cutting-edge contemporary work in a stunning outdoor setting.
Fresh Air Sculpture 2021 will bring over 130 contemporary pieces of outside sculptural work to this fantastic tranquil setting, with its expansive organic garden, lovely lawns, and River Coln running through. The list of contributing artists will be announced in March. Artwork will include installations specifically for the gardens.
The 2019 show was a great success. The weather was a challenge at times yet nearly 10,000 people visited the exhibition over the three weeks.
The excitement of Fresh Air Sculpture is the huge diversity of materials exploring a variety of media: from stone to textiles, ceramic to glass, sound to video, mosaic to metals, rubber to resin. Monumental pieces sit alongside smaller works to suit every size of garden or outdoor space.
Apply to Exhibit
Fresh Air Sculpture is a selling exhibition. Our primary goal is to provide a marketplace for artists and makers of 3D craft and sculpture. All our sales commission goes to cover the costs of the logistics of the exhibition and the education programme, with any surplus benefitting the Quenington Sculpture Trust Bursary award programme.
At Fresh Air Sculpture, we favour experimental work in the traditional applied arts and crafts. We aim to support and promote makers in a multitude of disciplines. We take pride in blurring the lines between craft, design and fine art. Occasionally we look at work in bronze and stone, if the concept behind the piece is fresh and exciting.
Work must be of sufficient scale for an outdoor setting, and robust enough to survive the vagaries of the British weather in the long term. We will consider hosting site-specific or ephemeral artwork in cases where the artist has raised his or her own funding; we are always open to new ideas. We realise this is a challenging remit, but challenges often push artwork in new and unexpected directions.
The selection process for the 2021 show is now open and will continue until the end of January 2021, or earlier if we have selected sufficient exhibits.
