Public art project - The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre

The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre seeks submissions for a public art project to paint two exchange boxes in front of the Séamus Ennis Arts Centre, Naul, Co. Dublin. The chosen artwork will transform these boxes into beautiful works of art.

Participants should draw upon their own creativity, but must pay attention to the surroundings, the village of Naul and The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre, when designing their work and the design must relate to any of the following guidelines

  • Suitability to the venue
  • Relating to Traditional Music
  • Relating to SĂ©amus Ennis
  • The history or environment of Naul

 

It is recommend artists visit Naul to inspect the area before commencing on design.  

Selected artwork imagery will be owned by the artist but you must consent to allow The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre to use the artwork to promote this project.

Artwork will be selected based on the following:

  • The relevance of the image to the chosen area
  • Creativity of design
  • Ability to work within the guidelines of the project

 

All artwork should be e-mailed in jpeg or pdf format to info@tseac.ie by 12th June (please note 3 dimensional aspect of the boxes when submitting artwork).

COVID 19 RESTRICTIONS: The area will be adequately sealed off to allow for social distancing when artist(s) are working on this project.

What should the entry contain?

The application must include the following information:

  • Artist’s name, address, email address, phone number
  • An artistic profile that details the candidate’s artistic approach and biographical elements, and sources of inspiration
  • A selection of one or more works, not necessarily in the same medium, with a good-quality image of each work to enable the selection committee to form as accurate an idea as possible of the candidate’s practice.
  • Artists’ costings for project- this should include details of costings for materials together with any travel expenses and any fee for completing the onsite artwork.

For submissions- 12th June  
For announcing chosen artist- 19th June
For completion of work- 24th July
