International Sculpture Competition "The Black Corsair, between reality and fantasy"

The Art Commission of the City of Ventimiglia, the Ventimiglia Black Corsair Committee, Borgo del Forte, with the patronage of the Municipality of Ventimiglia, organize the International Sculpture Competition "The Black Corsair, between reality and fantasy".

Subject: This announcement concerns the execution of a sketch for the creation of a sculptural artifact called "The Black Corsair, between reality and fantasy" and the subsequent creation of the work in case of victory.

Purpose
The call is open to Italian and non-Italian sculptors, over 18, and aims to bring the world of art closer to that of literature. Participation in the announcement is free and subject to acceptance of the clauses contained in the regulation, which is understood to be read and accepted in its entirety.

Competition theme and executive constraints.

• The competition requires the execution of a sketch for the subsequent creation of a large sculptural artefact.
• The final size of the work must not be less than 2.40 meters high.
• The sculptural work can be made with any technique and material.
• The choice of the execution technique and of the chosen material / s must take into account:

a) The maximum time required for completion by the Commission of selection (C.G.)
b) The external location of the work

Commission of selection
The specially constituted Commission will be made up of five highly qualified members.

Prize

• The winner will be announced by April 15, 2021
• The winning artist will be awarded a contribution of € 15,000 for the creation and delivery of the work. The contribution will be recognized by bank transfer to the winner, or other traceable payment, according to the methods and timing decided by the Commission of selection.
• The judgment of the Commission of selection is binding and unquestionable.
• The Commission of selection has the right not to award any of the works presented, if it deems it appropriate.

Cancel
The Promoters reserve the right to cancel the competition in its entirety for reasons beyond their control.

Notification
The winner will be contacted by e-mail at the address indicated during registration and must provide written acceptance of the prize within 5 days of sending the e-mail.

Privacy
Participants' data will be processed by the promoter exclusively for purposes related to the management of the announcement.

Jurisdiction

• Any controversy that may arise in relation to this regulation will be devolved to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Genoa court.
• For anything not expressly provided for in the following competition announcement, the provisions of the Civil Code and special laws on the subject apply.

HOW TO APPLY:
Required material and delivery methods.
Each participant must deliver the following material, to be attached to the application form:
1) A brief technical-descriptive report.
2) A graphic design made, with any technique, on two A3 size cards, showing the work and the projection in three dimensions of the listed work.
A sealed envelope containing:

• application form for registration, attached to this "Annex 1" call, duly completed,
• photocopy of a valid identity document
• curriculum.

All the material must be delivered in a sealed envelope, bearing the words: Bozzetto bando “il Corsaro Nero tra realtà e fantasia” (model for the call "the Black Corsair between reality and fantasy"), to the Secretariat of the Award: Black Corsair Committee Ventimiglia, Via Martiri della Libertà, 20 18039 Ventimiglia (IM) ".
Receipt of the sketch after the deadline of 15 March 2021 will result in exclusion from the competition.
All documentation received will not be returned.
