16th GARE-ART-FESTIVAL
The Groupe Animation Gare a.s.b.l. organizes its 16th GARE-ART-FESTIVAL with the support of the City of Luxembourg and the National Railways Society CFL. The event will take place from 22 July to 2 August 2019.
This event consists in the creation of sculptures and installations by six professional artists in the district of station in the City of Luxembourg followed by the exhibition of the created art pieces in the main hall of the station.
The symposium lasts one week and the exhibition takes place until September 26th, 2019.
Gare Art Festival benefits from a very good media an public visibility. Besides that Gare Art Festival has been honored by the presence in the official opening of the ambassadors of the countries from where the artists are native and various Luxembourg Ministers of Culture.
Characteristics of the 2019 symposium:
1) Material: oak wood
2) Approximative dimensions of the logs (with bark): +/- 160 cm high, diameter: 50-70 cm
3) Location: Place de Paris in Luxembourg-city.
4) Dates: July 26 - August 2, 2019.
5) The artist brings his/her own tools for work and finish his/her oak sculpture. Possibility of renting an electric chainsaw.
6) Eating and accommodation are supplied for the artists during the symposium (accommodation concerns only the International Artists).
7) Each artist receives 1.000 € for his/her artwork that remains his/her property for one year until the next Gare Art Festival edition.
8) He/she is likely to sell it or donate it to the organizers before that deadline of one year.
9) Indemnity-bonus for travel expenses: 50 € for Luxembourg Artists, 150 € for International Artists.
10) Each artist sends one (1) project only.
11) Each artist presents his/her project within the deadline.
12) Deadline for sending your project: April 26th, 2019, 24:00 (don’t forget to ask for application documents BEFORE!)
13) Selection of artists: end April/ mid May 2019.
