Outdoor exhibition "À CIEL OUVERT" in France
The Town of Riorges organizes every two years an outdoor exhibition entitled À CIEL OUVERT, drawing on its originality in the presentation of ephemeral plastic works. The sixth edition will run from 6 June to 6 September 2020.
Piloted by the cultural department, the call for proposals is open until 28th July 2019. It concerns the selection of 7 in situ installations designed by artists or collectives. In parallel, the exhibition also proposes plastic interventions carried out within the framework of workshops of artistic practice set up within social or school structures. A special interest is the public meeting with the works and the artists.
Satellite appointments are also available: guided tours, sports and wellness activities, shows.
Goals
The event aims to:
- promote a living and contemporary artistic expression renewing our vision of the human and natural heritage of the territory;
- making art accessible to all and raising public awareness by paying particular attention to mediation;
- encourage the creation, development of culture and tourism on the territory;
The theme
No theme or artistic mode of operation is a priori rejected in order to leave the field open to the expression of the creativity and the sensitivity of each candidate. However, it may be considered as a suggestion that the theme is the site of implantation and its characteristics. The works invite us to look at the landscape in a different way, to stimulate a new reading, to propose a new sensitive experience.
They may also integrate an interactive dimension.
Financial conditions
A scholarship of € 4,300 will be awarded to each selected artist. The amount is immutable, whether the application is individual or collective.
The scholarship includes:
- Fees for the creation of the work;
- The settlement by the artist of the social and fiscal contributions relating to these fees;
- The realization of the work: creation, purchase, transportation and work of materials. Artists are required to bring the tools and materials necessary for their work, and must be autonomous in their installation;
- Movements of the artist (apart from the technical visit which is taken care of by the city);
- The restoration and accommodation of the artist on the territory during the installation of the work
- Mandatory presence of the artist at the launch weekend (6 June 2020);
- The production of a text presenting the work and the artistic approach, accompanied by a visual;
- The installation by the artist of means, instructions or replacement parts and materials, to ensure the maintenance of the work according to simple procedures during the duration of the event.
The city supports
- The first day of technical visit of december 2019 (transport and restoration);
- The night of the inauguration weekend ( Saturday 6 June);
- Meals on Friday evening, June 5, opening night, Saturday, June 6.
- Disassembly of the work by us for disposal. If the artist wishes to keep his work, he will have to disassemble it at his own expense for recovery;
The works - Conditions of realization and prerequisites
The integration of works must take into account the scale of the territory and the specificity of the place of installation.
It should be noted that the site does not have any electrical connections to support the operation of a work during the duration of the exhibition (nevertheless an electrical source may be accessible from time to time for construction in a building located near the course).
Their lifetime must be a minimum of 3 months from the installation of the work.
The artist will aim to take account of the climate and the constraints linked to the terrain and undertakes to do everything possible to ensure that the works carried out are resistant to bad weather, the punctual rise of the water and the force of the current in the event of implantation In the bed of the river.
The site is permanently accessible to the public, day and night (no lighting) and it is not monitored.
It is particularly noteworthy that many dogs use to walk freely the site and can potentially access the works in a random way.
A principle of safety and respect for the environment applies: the works must not put the public in danger.
The installation, presence and dismantling of the work must not result in pollution or ecological damage to the site.
The artist must provide all guarantees of the implementation of the appropriate safety measures in connection with his installation.
Insurance
A professional liability certificate will be required upon signature of the contract.
The works will not be insured outside the civil liability of the city.
The Town of Riorges cannot be held liable for damage caused to the candidates, their equipment and / or the object of their work.
Ownership of works
The works made remain the property of the candidates.
The rights of exploitation of the work are transferred to the City of Riorges for the duration of its implantation on the site of the exhibition.
The selected candidates agree to be photographed as well as their work during the event, in order to appear on the media published by the municipality, relating to the event (promotion, communication, derivatives, publications, website , Social networks ...).
They accept in fact the use, in the respect of the moral right, of the images taken in connection with the said manifestation, without any limit in time.
Application
The entire dossier will be compulsory in French. It will bear a title which will be the name of the proposed work.
Format of parts to be provided:
It can be transmitted by USB key, mail and / or paper version.
In case of numerical format, this one cannot exceed the weight of 2 Mo.
In case of sending by mail, it is recommended to ask for a receipt to check the reception of your file by the recipient.
In case of paper format, the file must be linked in order to avoid loss of part of the documents.
Maximum one-sided page size per point, maximum 5 pages + administrative documents, (Non-compliance with this constraint will be eliminatory).
1. The application form (to be required to the email address) duly completed (precise contact details of the artist: postal address, e-mail, fixed and mobile phone or the contact in case of collective application / Registration number with social agencies, N ° VAT , EPAs, etc.);

A curriculum vitae and / or a summary presenting the artist's past work and work, any references (works, photos, press articles, sketches ...) likely to provide the jury with a significant insight into the candidate's artistic activities, and which makes the interest and the good end of the work;
The artistic and technical file including:

4. A technical description clearly describing the project with the materials being considered, the size of the work, its constituent elements and its anchor points;
5. A visual presentation of the work (with the choice of perspective, sketch by hand, photos of models, computer drawing, photomontage ...) with detailed dimensions and explanations, giving an account of the layout of the work.
From an administrative point of view:
- Copy of the candidate's identity document;
- A RIB and a Professional Liability attestation will be required upon signature of the contract.
- By the fact of its registration, the candidate fully subscribes to the operating procedures set out in this call for projects in terms of technical constraints, communication and dates.
