"The Young Sculpture" - Sculpture Competition

The biennial "The Young Sculpture", designed by the Montemaggiore Arte Association (MISAM "International Museum of Outdoor Sculptures) under the patronage of the Municipality of Montefiore Conca (RN) was born in 2001, to give young artists a chance to establish themselves in the field of the arts and meet, each in its different artistic expressions. Different languages, since the participants come from different countries.
Since 2001, the artists who have left their mark on the material that today dialogues with visitors and the space of the open-air museum, continue to flood the territory with their expressive energy, with works made of different materials, from stone to marble, travertine, cortèn, or stainless steel or colored mortars.

MISAM is set on a green hill, Montemaggiore di Montefiore Conca, known as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and is only a few kilometers away from the Romagna and Marchigiana Riviera. From this hillock (MISAM) the eye gets lost in a 360 degree space, which allows you to appreciate the Adriatic Riviera to the north east, Montefeltro (Urbino the mountains of the Umbrian Apennines of the Marches to the south), San Marino and the Apennines Tosco-Romagna to the west and part of the Po Valley.

The location of the MISAM Museum (www.museomisam.it ) has numerous visitors and vacationers, especially during the summer, when tourists flock to the Adriatic Riviera.

OBJECTIVES AND THEME OF THE COMPETITION:

The MISAM Museum was born from a strong thought of its founder, the sculptor Umberto Corsucci who, supported by well-known figures, understands the need to promote initiatives dedicated also to young talents. Participants will see their works published in a catalog published by the Association. Each member is asked to produce a sketch on the theme "The scream against violence against women".

REGULATION SPECIFICATIONS

All sculptors can participate, under 45.
During the exhibition, a committee appointed by the Association will identify three worthy artists, with whom to continue a collaboration with the MISAM museum itinerary: their sketches will be evaluated to be reproduced on a monumental scale and subsequently installed in the museum itinerary outdoors.

REGULATION "The young sculpture"

  • All competitors under 45 sculptors who have the obligation to submit a single scale sketch on the theme "The scream against violence against women" can participate, which must not exceed 60 cm in height and 20 x 20 cm in size. base (vertical shape is preferred), with slight protrusions of the material on the measurement of the required base perimeter.
  • The technique and materials are free to choose, preferably among those mentioned above. The work (sketch in scale) must be accompanied by a graphic sketch fixed on a rigid background of the maximum size A 2 format with three high resolution photos of the sketch on a neutral background. Curriculum vitae required with pictures of some previously performed works.

 

  • All material must also be received on a diskette, from 04 to 19 June 2020. Only in this period of time will a person in charge be made available by the association to collect the sketches and file them.
  • The exhibition of sketches and graphic works will be held on MISAM's "Art Terrace", an exhibition space adjacent to the museum park and will be inaugurated on 01 August 2020 at 19.00 and will end on 6 September 2020.
  • The evening will be attended by political authorities, journalists, local televisions, art critics and show business personalities.
  • The aforementioned Competition aims to select the three-dimensional sketches of one or more participating artists which will subsequently be made on a monumental scale and installed in the MISAM program. The artists who best represent the theme in the judgment of the committee in charge will be selected, as well as the originality and the technique performed (maximum execution simplicity is recommended). The sketches must be made with impact-resistant and long-lasting materials.
  • All material must be received at the expense and risk of the participant and so the collection must take place no later than 15 days after the closure of the exhibition. While taking care of the works in custody, the MISAM association does not assume any responsibility for any damage, theft and so on.
  • Therefore, the artist in charge of the work will provide, if he deems it appropriate, to have adequate insurance coverage and "indemnity", exempting the organization from any burden for theft and damage.
  • During the exhibition, a jury of experts in the field of visual arts will select one or more sketches. The artists deemed worthy will be contacted at the end of the exhibition to establish a proposal from the MISAM association of collaboration
  • In that circumstance, understood by mutual agreement, all the material (including the sketch) will remain, subject to a contract, owned by the Ass. Montemaggiore Art as the copyright of the same and the right to reproduce it in a limited edition to be established with the artist to whom a proof of author in lost wax cast bronze will be returned.
  • The selected artists will also be offered, as per contract, a collective exhibition with catalog, and the construction of the sketch with the materials mentioned above on a monumental scale.
  • The selected works will be carried out in the MISAM laboratory by specialized technicians. The artists must take part in the finishing and viewing of the monumental sculpture and are guests of the Ass. Montemaggiore Arte for the necessary period of the intervention.
  • Works not selected if not collected by 06 September 2020 will remain the property of the Ass. that the right to expose them to situations inherent in the MISAM theme will be reserved.
  • All competitors will have a space in the MISAM 2020 catalog, will receive a merit or participation diploma, a pack of wine from a well-known local winery, two exhibition catalogs, a MISAM 2020 member card and an aperitif for the inauguration stating that will take place in the afternoon at 19.00 on August 1, 2020 to end with the devernissage on September 6, 2020.


Participation fee: Participation is subject to a payment of € 45.00 for secretarial and porterage costs, which must be kindly paid to the account of the Montemaggiore Arte association IBAN IT 32 D 07090 67930 022000103886.
The payment receipt must be attached to the registration documents and sent together with the sketch. Participation in the competition implies full acceptance of all the regulation articles by the artists.
