J207 College Rd - Croydon - Public Art Invitation

I am an architect at HTA Design in London, working on a proposal for our client Tide Construction to deliver a 49-storey tower - with planning consent for 120 Affordable Homes and circa 800 Co-living units - on a site within 150m of East Croydon Station.
Along the eastern boundary of the site (land to the East of Croydon College), it is our intention to develop the design of a colonnade that connects Fairfield Gardens - the ornamental parks and ponds linking Croydon College to Fairfield Halls - to East Croydon Station via a previous project of ours at 101 George Street: https://www.hta.co.uk/project/101-george-street.

As this site forms a major piece of public realm with high predicted  footfall, we are required to collaborate with an artist to enhance and refine the public realm offering to Croydon Council's Placemaking Team, delivering a considered and relevant response to the borough's tradition of creating engaging public spaces. In a more practical sense - we are looking to reduce the perceived bulk of the structural columns at the base of the building through the intricacy of the terracotta profiles, better reference and expand on the morphology of mid-century modernist forms that have defined our design approach and enhance the quality of space to engage with Croydon's existing context.

Further to this, we've prepared a document which explains the history of the site and project background as well as an Art Engagement Strategy which sets out our ambitions and timescales in greater detail. These can be downloaded at the link Ceramicist Engagement Pack

We would like to reach out to UK artists that are part of sculpture network to invite them to submit their proposals for this new exciting public  art space.
