INTERNATIONAL ICE SCULPTURE CONTEST - FRANCE
The Tourist Office of Valloire organizes its 30th ICE SCULPTURE CONTEST, from Tuesday 11 to Friday, January 14, 2022, with 20 locations.
It will take place at Verneys, on a platform at 1500 m of altitude. Participants should arrive at Valloire for Monday, January 10, 2022 in the afternoon. The contest begins Tuesday, 11th January at 8:00 am and ends Friday, 14th January to 12 h. 10/01: Draw locations at the end of the opening meal. 14/01: At 12:00: Passage Jury. At 17:30: award ceremony. Registration for the competition is free. It is recommended that each participant to have insurance. The competition is artistic. The theme is free. 20 artists (French and foreign) will be selected for the contest over 18 years old. ICE: Each sculptor will have at his disposal 5 BLOCKS OF ICE, with the imperative of all use. - Dimensions of the loaves: 1m x 0.50mx 0.25m. - The breads are transparent, parallelepipeds, with flat bottoms. - Each sculpture will be placed on a snow base 0,70m high and 1m wide.
LIGHTING: Each sculptor will have to bring its lighting sculpture in value, as desired.
MATERIALS: The sculptures must be made entirely with ice. Water may be used for finishing. The contribution of other materials is not permitted (color, materials ...).
TOOLS: Use of the electric chain saw is allowed. The organizer will provide each sculptor a chainsaw. Other tools (knives, scissors, saws, ax, chisel ...) must be brought by competitors, which may also provide their own chainsaw if electrical. The competition will take place whatever the weather.
ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation sculptors (not leaders) is offered by the Tourist Office in hotel (2 carvers / room), from Monday, January 10 in the evening to Saturday, January 15 in the morning. Personal expenses (telephone, drinks, ...) remain the responsibility of the competitors. Â JURY: Jury selection consisting of organizers, representatives of the resort, artists and sculptors, will determine the participants on sketches and explanations received with the form Registration. The choice of the jury will be final. RESULTS: The announcement of the results will be Friday, January 14, 2022 at 17:30 to Verneys.
xCONTEST AND PRIZES: - 3 JURY PRIZEs - Public Prize - Children Prize - Artist Prize MONEY : In the wish to contribute to the expenses incumbered by the sculptors, the amount of 450 € will be given to each participant + An amount of 450 € for travel of the international sculptors, on ticket’s presentation, whatever the amount, except these countries : Great Britain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Portugal. A trip indemnity of 120 € / pers. will be given to the other sculptors.
