HAY AND STRAW SCULPTURE CONTEST - FRANCE

The Tourist Office of Valloire, France, announces the 11th International Straw and Hay Contest from 28th June to 3rd July 2022. Artists should arrive by 27th June in the afternoon.

No entry fee is required, but each participant must have a personal insurance. The contest is open to team of sculptors (at least 1 professional artist and his/her assistant, up to 12 teams) over 18, from all over the world.

Theme

No specific subject, but the sculptures must be covered with hay and straw. Size: at least 4 m high (for vertical sculptures) or 8 m long (for horizontal sculptures). The work will be judged on its: relevance, creativity, interest, monumental aspect. Materials and tools: Each team will be provided by: - around 600 kg of hay and 400 kg of straw; - wooden rafters; - iron cabling; - roll of strong wire; - nails, staples; The sculptures must be made exclusively by the supplied materials. The sculptures have to stand up by themselves without cables or additions.

Accommodation

The organization will provide accommodation from 27th June to 4th July 2022.

Prizes

1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes 1 Public Prize 1 Youth Prize 1 Artist Prize An amount of 450 € will be given to each participant as a contribute for extra costs. An amount of 450 € will be given to each participant coming from extra European Countries as a contribute for travel expenses. An amount of 120 € will be given to each participant coming from European Countries as a contribute for travel expenses.
