Ice Sculpture Symposium in Russia

Cultural institutions of Tomsk City, Russian Federation organizes ice sculptural contest. The organizer of the Festival is the Municipal Autonomous Institution "Palace of Culture" Concert and Theater Association ", Tomsk Region, Siberia. Dates of festival 09/16 December, in Tomsk central city square, Tomsk City, Tomsk Region, Siberia, Russian Federation. Also Tomsk is very old 16 century University centre, with another, one of most massive wood carving event in the world, Axe Day, which occurs in August every year and hosts more than 150 sculptors from world. Scouting for possible participant for this event will be present on Ice Carving contest.

Goals of the festival are:

• attraction of Tomsk citizens to the achievements of modern culture,
• formation of the image of the city of Tomsk as the center of contemporary culture and art,
• development of international, inter regional and intercultural relations.

The festival is held from 09 to 16 December 2018. Organizers provide electronic airplane tickets, food three times a day in restaurant, accommodation not far from working place, transfer from and to airport. Sculptures should be made from ice blocks 1m-2m-0,25(0,35)m. It is obligatory to use most of material, and sculptures should cover at least 2x2x1m. Sculptures will be made on pre-placed pedestals, which organization provide.

Teams
Works will be realized by teams of two persons. 50 teams will be selected.

Organizers provide basic tools for international and national artist, shovel, bucket, electricity connections, long cables for tools, scaffolds will be available on site. Tools such as chainsaws might be required from organization but it is expected from artist to bring their own tools and protective equipment. Also on site there will be available sharpening of the tools, possibility to drink tea and coffee in warm room.

Awards:
The prize for 1st place – 115.000 rubles (One hundred and fifteen thousand rubles);
The prize for the 2nd place – 86.250 rubles (Eighty-six thousand two hundred and fifty rubles),
The prize for the 3rd place is 57.500 rubles (Fifty seven thousand five hundred rubles).
