"Book of Lamentations" Memorial Statue Competition
“Renaissance” cultural and intellectual foundation is announcing an international competition for creating a memorial statue dedicated to “The Book of Lamentations” by Gregory of Narek (http://narekatsi.com/en), a 10th century Armenian poet, exegete, musician, celebrated saint of the Armenian Apostolic Church, 36th ecumenical doctor of Catholic Church. This competition is among the “Renaissance of Narekatsi” series of projects goal of which is to demonstrate the universally spiritual and cultural value of Gregory of Narek along with his book.
Terms and conditions
The competition’s whole procedures, including jury assessment of the submitted work, will be online.
The competition has one stage.
All participants need to register within the set timeframe to be granted the right to participate in the competition.
All participants need to fill in the application form within the set timeframe. Late submissions will not be considered.
Participants must present their works in compliance with the requirements set by the organization:
- Make a model of the sculpture
- Take a photo of the model from 4 angles (.jpg, .pdf)
- Graphically, place the model in the area adjacent to St. Anna church (.psd)
- Indicate measurements of the sculpture
- Propose the required budget calculation for delivering the work.
Members of the jury have no right to take part in the contest․
Organizers of the contest, hired workers or members of the jury have no right to assist the participants in any way (except with regards to organizational issues).
After the deadline set for the uploading of works, the jury will start the evaluation process, after which the results will automatically be summed up and represented as a list.
If the competition winner rejected the work order, or no agreement was reached with the winner, the works of 2nd, then 3rd place winners will be considered for implementation respectively.
If the organization does not like any of the presented works or if the submitted works fail to be awarded necessary scores by the jury, the organization retains the right to order the sculpture to some other organization or a physical person.
