8th International Straw and Hay Contest

The Tourist Office of Valloire, France, announces the 8th International Straw and Hay Contest from 2nd to 7th July 2019.

Theme

No specific subject, but the sculptures must be covered with hay and straw.

Size

At least 4 m high (for vertical sculptures) or 8 m long (for horizontal sculptures).
The work will be judged on its: relevance, creativity, interest, monumental aspect.

Materials and tools
Each team will be provided by:

• around 600 kg of hay and 400 kg of straw;
• wooden rafters;
• iron cabling;
• roll of strong wire;
• nails, staples;

The sculptures must be made exclusively by the supplied materials. The sculptures have to stand up by themselves without cables or additions.

Accommodation

The organization will provide accommodation from 1st to 8th July 2019.

Prizes

• 1st , 2nd and 3rd prizes
• 1 Public Prize
• 1 Youth Prize
• 1 Artist Prize
• An amount of 450 € will be given to each participant as a contribute for extra costs.
• An amount of 450 € will be given to each participant coming from extra European Countries as a contribute for travel expenses.
• An amount of 120 € will be given to each participant coming from European Countries as a contribute for travel expenses.
