The Cockpit Arts / Newby Trust Craft Excellence Awards 2019

Cockpit Arts is delighted to announce the launch of the Newby Trust Craft Excellence Awards. The Awards aims to support two Craftspeople to practice their craft at a key stage in their skill development, to grow as an independent maker and to support their craft business to achieve financial sustainability. The Award is open to all Makers practicing in Craft.

The Award recipients will be awarded a place at Cockpit Arts for one year worth £3,000 plus a grant of £900 to support craft skill development.
To be supplemented with a £1,000 contribution each from successful applicant, payable on a monthly basis. The grant could include short training courses, tools, equipment, mentoring and/or any other activity which supports craft skill development to be spent within the Award year. This will be redeemable against the cost, with proof of purchase. The total sum (Award and additional contribution) is linked to the cost of the space and support services.

The Award includes the following benefits:

Studio space for one year within the creative community at Cockpit Arts, Holborn or Deptford, London
900 Grant to support craft skill development.
Business incubation / acceleration services including on-site coaching and workshops
Selling and promotional opportunities including Cockpit Arts twice-yearly Open Studios and other events
Opportunity to collaborate with other makers in the Cockpit community
Access to office facilities and resources
