European Stone Festival
he 2019 edition of the European Stone Festival will take place in the Courtyard of The Archbishop’s Palace, Trondheim, Norway, from 21st to 23rd June 2019. The European Association of stonemasons and sculptors (EASMS) and the City of Trondheim invite artists to participate in this weekend of stone carving which will take place in the main Cathedral square.
The theme for 2019:
The theme for the festival in 2019 is “Games” and is open to wide interpretation. However, on signing up to the festival the participants must chose between two tasks.
The first task is the “traditional festival task” and culminates in the auction on Sunday.
The second task involves carving a stone which may end up permanently decorating stone benches in the City Square in Trondheim. Unfortunately, only five stones will have this honour; the rest of the participating stones will be auctioned off on Sunday. .
Application
To take part in the festival, please send an application letter and your resume / CV before April 1, 2018. Please include a sketch with dimensions and a description of your proposed work. (Recommended dimensions or negotiable: 20 x 20 x 30 cm).
If your application is accepted by the organisers, a registration fee will be requested:
- € 55 for qualified masons/stone carvers and master masons and sculptors
- € 40 for apprentices
