National Sculpture Prize - The Broomhill Art and Sculpture Foundation

The Broomhill Art and Sculpture Foundation launched, in 2009, the Broomhill National Sculpture Prize (NSP) with an annual prize fund of £15,000 to provide an exciting challenge for new and emerging UK based sculptors.

Each year ten short-listed sculptors selected by a panel of judges receive £1,000 each to create their proposed sculpture which is then exhibited at the Broomhill Sculpture Park in an annual NSP summer Exhibition.

You will then be emailed a registration form to fill in and return to us
Once we have received your registration form and entry fee of £20, you will be sent a confirmation email containing information on how to submit your proposal

We will be accepting registration forms and fees until 31 Jan 2020. Submission of proposals must be received by us by the 29 Feb 2020.

Proposals will need to include:

Completed proposal form
CV
Images of past work
A series of hand drawn sketches to show the creative process of the sculptural design
We also encourage you to include a maquette

Conditions of Entry

The competition is open to UK based artists, currently studying (or within 10 years of graduation) an art-related course at a recognised School of Art.
The entrant must be registered within the registration period to be eligible to submit a proposal.
The proposal must be for a brand new sculpture. Work that has already been constructed will not be accepted.
The entrant may enter a maximum of one sculpture proposal.
The proposal must outline the original work of the artist named on the registration form.
The entrant undertakes that the work is of his/her own origination and that he or she holds all moral and intellectual property rights in that work.
The entrant accepts, by signing the registration form that the proposal and sculpture, if short-listed, is entered at the artist's risk. The organisers are not liable for any loss or damage incurred to the pieces either in transit or to and from the exhibition, or during any period of storage, packing or unpacking, or in any period in which the work is in their keeping.
The entrant accepts that the sculpture submitted will be available for sale in the exhibition and that the Broomhill Art and Sculpture Foundation will take a commission of 30%.
The entrant accepts that if they are VAT registered, that this will also be included in the price of the work, stated by the artist on the proposal form.
If selected for the exhibition, the entrant agrees to the reproduction of their work (at no fee) in association with the exhibition including but not limited to press, publicity, website and catalogue.
Ten short-listed sculptors will receive £1,000 each to create their final piece (this amount must cover all material costs for a brand new sculpture and all transportation costs to and from the Broomhill site).
Finalists are welcome to find sponsors to assist them in realising their project.
All those short-listed for Stage 4 of the competition will be notified in March 2020. If selected, they will then be required to organise the delivery of their own work to Broomhill by mid-May 2020 and install their piece within a two day time period.
All finalists are expected to keep a blog of their work in progress. Blog links will be included on the Broomhill Website.
The ten short-listed sculptures must be available to the Broomhill Art and Sculpture Foundation until Apr 2021.
The overall winning piece will remain as part of the Broomhill Art and Sculpture Foundation collection.
The remaining pieces must be removed in the Spring of 2020 by the sculptors, each will be responsible for removing their own piece and paying for transport costs.
