ARTIFEX’20 is organized by Gilena’ City Council, through its Museum Collection, with the technical and artistic co-direction of David Ruiz (Museum director-curator) and Antonio Jurado (Postgraduate in research of artistic and visual practices).

Topic
The VI Symposium topic is: MACHINE AND TIME, in line with the Museum Collection motto: the time machine.

Materials/Tools/Accommodation
Limestone blocks will be in charge of the organization. They will have a maximum dimension of 150 cm on its major axis.

The artwork must be exclusively done in limestone of Gilena, or combine with other material, not exceeding 25% of the work.
Accommodation and maintenance of the artists will be in charge of the organization during the celebration of the event. The artists will be hosted by local families in their homes, providing breakfast, lunch and dinner, a private bedroom and Wi-Fi connection.
Free transport form Seville or Malaga airports or AVE station in Puente Genil - Herrea will be provided.
The travel expenses from the place of origin will be in charge of the artists.

Selection criteria
Once the projects have been received, a specialized jury will study them and select the 4 artists, taking into account the concept, originality and interpretation of the topic, among other impressions. The jury will be composed by:
- Amparo Lozano: Contemporary Art critic and researcher in UCLM (1 vote).
- A member of the Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art (1 vote).
- David Ruiz: Museum director-curator (1 vote)
- Antonio Jurado: Postgraduate in research of artistic and visual practices (1 vote).
- Three professional quarry workers, experts in handmade carving and sculpting techniques (1 vote).

Payment and services from the organization
Every artist will receive 1000€ when the works is finished.
A first symbolic prize will be given: the winning work will be exposed in the local Museum Collection, while the rest of the works will become part of the urban furniture under municipal nomination.
The organization will set up a space in which every artist will be able to expose a maximum of 5 artworks. They will be for sale during the celebration of the symposium. In case there is a sale, the organization will get 20 % of the price. This amount will be destined to the local Museum Collection.
Sculptors will be required to share experiences and cultural exchanges with students from schools and to deal with local media.
The festival organization keeps the right to record, film or photograph the event in order to announce it.
During the course of the symposium, several workshops of introduction to modelling and curving stone will take place. They will be open to public and there will be previous inscription.
Application
The artists who want to participate must submit the following documentation:
- Signed form (require to the email addresses below)
- Artistic curriculum: Name, surname, identity card or passport number, date of birth, telephone number, e-mail, address, post code, city and country (maximum 3 pages).
- Brief description of the work and necessary dimensions of the limestone block you need.
- Pictures or drawings of the model from 4 different points of view.
- 5 last participations in sculture symposiums.
