Landmark Sculpture (Australian Artists)
We’re looking for a talking piece. Something that is unique. A landmark so great, you won’t be able to help yourself from showing it off to visitors.
A giant eagle? The world’s biggest work boot? What wacky, creative idea sums up the unique City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder?
About the project
This is a once in a lifetime Public Art Opportunity to create an artistic legacy.
A sculpture that represents who we are, where local businesses come together with local artists, to create something magical.
Â
In September 2020, the City hosted an Arts & Culture Round table.
What a dynamic, vibrant group it was, with so many great ideas floated. The idea to create a landmark sculpture that will stand the test of time, was borne.
So, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder set aside up to $100,000 to create just that.

Here, we welcome expressions of interest for the initial design concept.
How it works:
1) Submit a portfolio of your work. Include a cover letter of experience in a public art project or any relevant experience you can bring to the project. Please include what personal connection you have to the Goldfields region.
2) Submit a design concept that encompasses the unique qualities of the region. How will you interpret this into a design?
3) A selection panel will review the entries and 4 designers will progress to the next round.
The successful applicant will be expected to work with local fabricators for the delivery and installation of work.
The expression of interest is open to all artists Australia-wide, though Goldfields residents are the preferred option.
