ARTIST IN RESIDENCE – CANADA
The Maison des métiers d’art de Québec (MMAQ 367, boulevard Charest Est | Québec, QuébecG1K 3H3) is a school of applied arts specializing in ceramics, textile desing and sculpture and is located in Saint-Roch, the new, hip district of historic Québec city. The residency program, « Passeurs de mémoire », offers interested artists a place of interdisciplinary exchange in a dynamic environment that fosters research and creative production.
This program is for young artists and established professionals from Québec, Canada and abroad. It gives them acess to equipment and specialized technical resources in a setting that promotes reflection and experimentation. Residencies will take place from September to June inclusively and last for 4 to 6 weeks each. Longer residencies are also possible.
Proposals may be submitted at any time.
Selected artists receive a studio space. They have access to a computer lab, as well as to facilities for the different disciplines. Artists cover costs of travel, room and board and materials. Under certain circumstances, the MMAQ may grant room and board.
Ceramic: Studios for clay sculpture, throwing, moulding and semi-industrial production, glazing labs, gas, electric and rakĂą kilns.
Textile: Studios equipped with computer aided tapestry and Jacquard looms, Knitting machines, a computer lab and sewing; dyeing, felting room.
Sculpture: Studios with all the necessary equipment for working in wood, stone, metal and paper.

- Length of residency: 1 month. Note that is possible to apply for a longer residency
