Terms And Conditions

The object of this call for proposals is to select a research project aimed at the following: â—‹ to develop the historiography of feminist art within both the Basque Country and international contexts â—‹ and/or, studying the production of women artists and thinkers linked to the programmes of the Artium Museum and its Collection Second: Eligibility requirements to participate in this call for proposals

The eligibility requirements to participate in this call are as follows:
a) Researchers of any nationality, regardless of age, may apply for this call, either individually or as members of a group submitting a joint application.
b) Applicants must present a research project to be developed during the period covered by the grant. The project must be, as of now, unpublished but it can be a project that is already underway and that would be completed during the period of the grant. The maximum length of the project proposal shall not exceed 30,000 characters with spaces, and should include a project summary and description, a timetable, a detailed budget estimate and a detailed research bibliography.
c) The selected researchers must agree to present the results of the research in a public situation at the Artium Museoa, Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country.

The awarding of the grant in no way implies an employment status at the Artium of Alava Foundation, nor does it imply a commitment to the subsequent incorporation of the grant beneficiary into the museum’s staff.

The selected project may be conducted either on the museum’s premises or off-site. The museum shall not be responsible for any personal expenses arising from the stay of the grantee(s) in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Research grant duration and amount
The maximum amount allocated for conducting the research shall not exceed 7,000 euros and shall cover the researcher’s fees, the expenses arising from developing the research (bibliography, documentation and other materials) as well as the grantees’ travel, subsistence and accommodation expenses. The work covered by the grant shall have a duration of nine consecutive months, beginning from the date on which the grantees accept the grant in writing and pursuant to the provisions of the 11th point of the terms and conditions of the call for proposals (see below).

Grant payment
The payment of the awarded grant amount, including the deduction of the corresponding personal income tax [known as IRPF in Spain], shall be made in two instalments as follows:
a) 3,500 euros at the time the grant is awarded.
b) 3,500 euros when the work is completed, at the end of the time allocated.

Budget system and entries
The grant shall be awarded on a competitive basis under the principles of objectivity, transparency, equality, non discrimination and publicity. This call for proposals shall be charged under the expenditure budget item “Juncal Ballestín International Research Grant from the Research and Documentation Centre for Basque Women Artists” for a maximum amount of 7,000 euros.

Forms and documentation to be provided
Those interested in applying for this call for proposals must submit the following documentation in digital form:
a) A completed application form (require to the email address below or to info@aiesm.com ).
b) A scan of their passport or a national identity document providing proof of identity and nationality of the project author(s).
c) A curriculum vitae providing proof of the applicant’s profile, with a maximum length of 1,600 characters including spaces. The Evaluation Commission may request a copy of the documents that justify and support the aforementioned claims in the curriculum vitae.
d) A dossier with previous projects and work (in PDF format)
e) A description of the project to be conducted, with a maximum length of 30,000 characters including spaces.
f) A schedule of completion of the project.
g) A detailed budget estimate listing the items that would be financed by the project.
h) A detailed research bibliography.

Submission of applications and deadline
Applications, together with the required documentation, may be completed in Basque, Spanish or English. All documentation must be sent digitally (PDF format and maximum of 5MB in size) to the following email address: ikerketa_investigacion@artium.eus

The deadline for submitting applications is 18 February 2022.
If the applications are not presented in the requested manner or if any of the documents required in this call for proposals are missing, the interested party shall be asked to remedy this lack of information or attach the required documents within a period of 10 days. Failure to do so within the aforementioned period shall lead to the application being considered withdrawn and the application being archived without further processing.

Body responsible for examining and selecting applications
The Artium Museoa, Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country shall be the competent body responsible for examining the procedure.

Evaluation Commission
An Evaluation Commission shall be formed to evaluate and select among the submitted applications and to issue a report on the decision to award the grant to the grantee(s).
This Evaluation Commission shall comprise the following members: Committee of the Research and Documentation Centre for Basque Women Artists, and the manager of the Artium Museum Documentation Centre.

Application evaluation The Evaluation Commission shall evaluate the accepted applications with a maximum of 10 points by taking into account the following criteria:
a) The interest of the research project to be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the terms and conditions of this call for proposals, with a maximum evaluation of five (5) points.
b) The applicant’s professional profile in accordance with the provisions of the terms and conditions of this call for proposals, with a maximum evaluation of three (3) points. The score shall be an average of the scores obtained for the professional profile of each member of the group in the case of joint applications.
c) The suitability of the research project with regard to the goals of the Artium Museum Documentation Centre with a maximum evaluation of two (2) points.

The awarding of this call for proposals shall be announced through the Artium Museum’s website and social media channels, as well as through a message sent to the email address used to submit the project.

Obligations of research grant beneficiaries
a) To communicate in writing the acceptance of the grant within 15 days from the date on which the grant is awarded.
b) To submit a bimonthly report on the progress of the work in accordance with the established schedule.
c) To communicate any changes that may arise from the proposed plan.
d) To submit a final report on the research conducted.
The report must include the results of the research, valuing the submission of any documentary annexes or other material produced in the research process, such as podcasts, 7 videos, interviews, photographs and so on.
The submission deadline of the final report shall be one month from the end of the grant’s period of performance.
e) The submission of applications to be considered for this grant implies the express and unconditional acceptance of the rules set out in these terms and conditions.

Research ownership and dissemination
The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country reserves the right for the first publication of the results of the research, respecting the authorship of the work conducted in accordance with existing intellectual property laws.
The museum undertakes to include the completed research project in the archive of the Research and Documentation Centre for Basque Women Artists, Feminist Artistic Practices and Art Theories.
All further publications inspired by the research shall make mention, as much as possible, that “the research was made possible thanks to the Juncal Ballestín International Research Grant from the Research and Documentation Centre for Basque Women Artists, Feminist Artistic Practices and Art Theories at the Artium Museoa, Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country”.

Reimbursement of the amount
The amounts received shall be reimbursed in the event of non compliance with the obligations established in the clauses of these terms and conditions, as well as in the cases established in Provincial Law 11/2016, of 19 October, on Subsidies from the Historical Territory of Alava. Reimbursement of the amounts received on the approved subsidy shall be considered public law income and their collection shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of Title 2, Chapter I of Provincial Law 53/92, of 18 December, on the Economic Budgetary Regime.

Interpretation
Any doubts that may arise in the interpretation of these terms and conditions shall be resolved by the Artium Museoa, Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country.

Publicity
This call for proposals shall be published on the Artium Museum’s website, providing for maximum dissemination on social media channels.

Claims
This call for proposals and any administrative actions arising from it may be challenged in the cases and ways established by Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
