Buzău International Sculpture Symposium – BISS, 2022
Buzău City Hall, through the Cultural and Educational Center "Alexandru Marghiloman" (CCAM) organizes the First Edition of the Buzău International Sculpture Symposium – BISS, 2022.
The event is supported by AIESM, in the person of Mr. Bogdan Adrian Lefter AIESM Manager for Romania, who is also Organizer of the Buzau International Sculpture Symposium - BISS.
On the occasion of this event, sculptures and monumental installations in metal and marble will be made by professional artists, which will later be permanently placed in the urban spaces of Buzau.
Buzau International Sculpture Symposium (BISS) will be an event with visibility in the media, where the public vote is decisive in selecting projects.
The main features of the first edition BISS - 2022:
1. Material used: Rușchița marble blocks, metal - Corten steel (weathering steel) and stainless steel.
2. Scale of works: marble blocks 2 - 3m3; the volume of the metal sculptures / installations can vary between 2 - 5m3.
3. This sculpture symposium is going to take place between June 28 - July 31, 2022.
4. 10 professional sculptors will participate: the host, a special guest and 8 artists selected through the contest.
5. The theme of the symposium: „Water Memory - 1650 years since Buzău city was mentioned for the first time in official documents”.
6. The place of the symposium: inside the ROTEC Buzău factory.
7. Artists will bring their own tools and instruments for making sculptures.
8. Meals and accommodation will be provided by the organizer during the symposium.
9. The total net amount received by each artist after the completion of the sculpture will be 3000 Euro.
10. The sculptures and patrimonial copyrights will be assigned exclusively to the organizers.
11. The sculptures will be placed in specially arranged urban spaces in Buzău.
12. Airline and train tickets (economy class) will be reimbursed upon presentation of proof of payment.
13. Each artist must submit a minimum of 2 projects and a maximum of 5 projects.
14. Each artist must send the projects by May 1, 2022, at 23:00 (Romanian time zone).
15. A pre-selection of projects will be carried out by a specialized jury in order to select 30% of the total number of the submitted projects (2-8 May 2022). In the second stage, all the projects selected by the jury will be elected online by the public through the webpage of the symposium (May 9-22). May 24 announcement of selected artists.
16. The total net amount received by each artist for the completed sculpture will be 3.000,00 Euro.
HOW TO APPLY:

- Fill in the online registration form with the personal data:
- Copy / photo - Identity card (IC) in the case of Romanian artists or Passport valid in the case of foreign artists (with minimum validity until 01/09/2022).
- 2-5 projects according to requirements:
- Each project will be presented on an A3 page (297x 420mm) in .JPG format
- Framing: in this format 50-60% of the space must be occupied by a main image (eloquent that benefits the sculpture), in the rest of the remaining space images from at least 3 different angles.
- No text should appear on the project.
- The project can be in the form of a photomontage of the model, a 3D rendering of the proposed sculpture or drawing.
- Type of metal materials for metal sculpture (an estimate of quantities and supplies).
- Approximate the dimensions of the marble block.
- CV (Curriculum Vitae with artistic activity - short version with a selection of 10 events and uploading the complete CV in Word or PDF format).
- 3 images with completed monumental sculptures (in the material in which the project is to be carried out), specifying: the name of the work, the place, the year and the dimensions.
- A recent portrait photo of the artist, (required to be printed on the banner and on other promotional materials).
