HIGH RELIEF SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM – ITALY

The Symposium of the "10 Giornate In Pietra 2022” (10 Stone Days 2022) will be held from 28 August to 4 September in Lettomanoppello (PE), Italy.

The selected sculptors must arrive by 3.00 pm on August 28, 2022. The working days will be from 29 August to 2 September 2022.
Works made in the form of murals on stone with high relief technique and texture are required.
During each day of the "10 Giornate In Pietra" there are related events and the artists will be asked to tell about their work and their history during the "Stone Aperitifs", at the bars of the village. The selected sculptors will be flanked by two local stonemasons who will also create the works of the Stone Murals – Pietrales-
Request for participation of the Artists: The sculptors who wish to participate in the selection must comply with the provisions set out herein. The selected artists will be n.° 8 must be of age, without any discrimination, but the sculptors already intervened in the previous year will not be able to participate.

Theme:
"ENVIRONMENT: RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAN AND NATURE IN THE MAIELLA"
Environment and relationship with man: The theme examines the relationship between man and nature, a complex relationship dotted with tensions and difficult choices. The proposed reflection touches on the topic by offering the possibility of expressing balances and imbalances that emerge from it: how much the anthropization of natural places can cause a benefit or be the condemnation for nature and if, in fact, it is man who is the executioner of himself. After all, we know that as a result of any catastrophe nature will still be able to continue its existence, so it is man who is at a crossroads between these two choices: inflict a punishment for the following centuries or decide to review his disproportionate presence on this globe. Man's ability to measure himself against the land that hosts him is a crucial point that will further fuel the cultural, social and political debates of the coming years, considering among other things the climatic conditions, the rapid depletion of resources and consequently the frustrating lack of a rapid response to all this.

Material
The stone is that of Maiella: Soft and compact organogenic limestone of straw color. Maiella stone is smooth, matte, but difficult to polish. Each artist will have at his disposal 1 slab of about 170x130 cm and a thickness of 8 cm. (definitive measures only during the event) Stone slabs on the sides will be shapeless, so with uneven sides. Each slab is to be worked only on one side. The processing on the slabs must be partly in high relief and partly in texture.
The works will be permanently posted on the walls of some buildings in the historic center of Lettomanoppello, each Stone Mural sculpted by the artist artists will be mounted carefully and following the indications of both the artistic direction and the artist himself who will supervise the assembly. The works remain the property of the Municipality of Lettomanoppello.

Honorarium
The organization undertakes to pay the "Artist", for the work he lent, the total and final sum of € 1,200 including the travel fee and gross compensation per artist.

Work tools
The municipality of Lettomanoppello and the entire organization provides the equipment and staff useful to move the stone slabs that will have to be processed.
The participating artists who will be selected will be required to bring their own professional equipment (angle grinders , pneumatic hammers, chisels ...) .
For artists from the same region, or neighboring Italian regions, the equipment of their own compressor will also be required (an aspect to be considered following a comparison with the artistic direction).
Sculptors must be equipped with personal PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) equipment.
The stone slabs made available by the organization of 10 Stone Days will be placed on a solid and comfortable base for processing.

Promotion:
The municipality of Lettomanoppello undertakes through the staff of the 10 Giornate In Pietra 2022 to disseminate the information of the event using different media means and dedicated social networks, or those of the 10 Giornate in Pietra, with the help of the Maiella National Park. Extensive communication on a large scale: regional and national, with the help of a press officer and some experts in communication, is therefore guaranteed. –
Communication of the OUTCOME:

HOW TO APPLY:
The documents relating to the application form must be sent no later than 00:00 on 15 June 2022 to the pec comune.lettomanoppello@pec.it or by email ufficio.protocollo@lettomanoppello.eu indicating in the subject: "SELECTION ARTISTS - EVENT 10 STONE DAYS 2022".

The documents required to participate in the selection are:

a - APP FORM (To be requested at the email below)
b - Curriculum Vitae of 3000 characters, including spaces (if beyond the characters indicated the request is not considered)
c - images of sketches and/or drawings illustrating the project; JPG format, not compressed, number of images : from 5 to 10 If even one of the requirements in these documents is missing, the request will be excluded.
