III. Offenen Pleinair-workshop for sculptors (Svetlogorsk, Russland)

"Mirages of Bathing Life"

Duration of stay: 15.08.-6.09.2018.

1. Preliminary Remark
The state-sponsored Hermann Brachert-Haus and Museum, the only prominent institution in the Kaliningrad region concerned with the research, preservation and popularization of sculpture, proposes the implementation of the following plein-air project.

The project is linked to the museum's 25th anniversary and means 'Professional Sculptors in Residence'. Its sufficiently broad theme - "Mirages of Bathing Life" - unites pictures of bathers seeking recreation and local inhabitants, their occupations and their habitus, and allows the artists to express themselves in absolutely different genres. The style should be realism. The result of the three-week pleinair should be some original stone sculptures made of shell limestone. Unified by the same material, the general theme and the size of the object, the artists gather in an open-air sculpture ensemble. The Pleinair "Mirages des Badelebens" is a forum where the artists' creative ideas for the creation of decorative sculptures and their location in the real milieu can be realized.
