The Discerning Eye

This year's Discerning Eye Exhibition will be open to the public from Thursday 15 November to Sunday 25 November 2018. As usual it will be held at The Mall Galleries in the heart of London, just a few steps from The National Gallery and The National Portrait Gallery. It will be open every day from 10am to 5pm, admission will be FREE and all works will be for sale. The exhibition will include works from both well-known artists and from emerging talents.

The 2018 OPEN SUBMISSION

The open submission for artists is now under way. UK-based artists working in any medium can submit up to six works for our annual exhibition this November. Your work must be for sale and it must be less than 20 inches (50cm) in its greatest dimension. You have 47 days to finish your work and get it to us by the last entry date ! Full details can be found on our Information For Artists page.

Every year sees six new selectors for our annual autumn exhibition - two artists, two collectors and two critics. They choose works from artists whom they invite personally and from the open submission. There is no selection by committee: each selector makes their own choices and they are shown within their own section of the exhibition - six small exhibitions rolled into one. Typically this produces a show of about five to six hundred works representing around 200 or more artists. The archive of our past exhibitions reveals the extraordinary diversity of work that has been shown over the last twenty-six years.
