Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture – Bauhaus Artist in Residence - Form, Function and the Outdoors

2019 marks the centenary of the Bauhaus movement, one of the most influential art, design and architecture movements of the 20th Century and is also the year that Waltham Forest becomes the first ever London Borough of Culture. The Residency will investigate how Bauhaus ideology and the role of the contemporary artist/designer can address the challenges and changes brought about by rapid urbanization and climate change in the 21st Century. Through research and active audience participation the residency will show how artistic practice can provide practical solutions to these challenges through sculptural installations and interventions in outdoor public space. The residency will run from June 2019 – November 2019 and the project will conclude with a major exhibition: Pioneers of Modernism. 

The successful applicant will receive Curatorial and production support, artist fee of £10,000, materials and installation budget of up to £17,000 and an additional events budget of £2,000 and Publicity and promotion via London Borough of Culture marketing, PR and social media channels.
