Symposium SCULPTURAMA

The SCULPTURAMA association organizes the 7th edition of the sculpture symposium SCULPTURAMA from 18 to 22 July 2019 (sculptors of arrival 17, starting July 23).

THEME: "Brotherhood (s)"

Aims of the symposium

  • attract people to the art of sculpture
  • to mobilize the largest number of local Communities in a common cultural project,
  • to promote the participating artists.

 

This event has the particularity to unfold simultaneously on several towns of the territory.

Working conditions - Liability - Insurance

The sculptors will be spread over several building sites. All techniques are accepted. The materials will be provided by the organizer. The application must be completed a fact sheet clearly stating material requirements, if possible mailed on pdf file.
Artists should bring their personal tools . Their work will be done in presence of the public allowing them to answer questions and contribute to the animation of the symposium and to discover their art. A marquee will be made available when needed.
Working hours will be from 9:30 am to 13h and 14h to 18h every day on the site. Artists work on their site under their own responsibility and ensure the safety of their visitors. For this the organizer will provide the necessary equipment: barriers, barrier tape ....
Each sculptor will have to provide proof of insurance Professional Liability and documents ensuring its welfare. 10% of the potential sales of works exhibited at the sites will return to the organizer.

Travel costs - Accommodation - Food

Travel expenses will be reimbursed by the organizer on presentation of receipts for travel by train (the most direct route and most economical) in an amount up to 400 €.

Housing and meals will be covered by the organizers during the symposium on Wednesday, July 17 evening to breakfast on Tuesday, July 23. Artists having their own hosting (truck, campers ...) and those with a special diet (vegetarian ...) should advise the organization when registering. Personal expenses such as telephone or other will be borne by the participants. The sculptors will arrive on 17 July. The costs of the possible accompanying person (accommodation, meals ...) will be paid by the organization and deducted from the artist's remuneration.

Allowances

Each sculptor will receive an allowance of € 700 and the payment of travel expenses at the end of the symposium.

Property

The works remain the property of the municipalities or structures hosting the event. The sculptor authorizes to use the image of his works for the promotion of the artist, the Symposium and the territory of the community of communes.

Application

The application is free. The deadline for applications is the deposit 1 st March 2019. The candidate should preferably apply by email (the "paper" applications will be examined of course): symposium.sculpture.ghd@gmail.com with the exception of regulation that will be sent by mail with check deposit of 150 € at:

Incomplete applications will not be considered by the jury.

Composition of the file

The file must include:

  • the Regulation file dated and signed constituting a participation commitment to the symposium on the entire length of it,
  • the deposit check of € 150 payable to the SCULPTURAMA association. The check will be the confirmation of participation in the symposium. The deposit will not be cashed and the check will be destroyed after the symposium or just after the final selection.
  • a PII certificate
  • a copy of the vehicle registration that you'll find on site,
  • a CV including address, telephone, email and together with a recent photo,
  • a sketch or photo (s) of the project with the dimensions,
  • a short paragraph summarizing the intent of the artist,
  • the title of the work, with its meaning and possibly its symbolism,
  • the list of equipment - the most accurate -necessary to the realization of the work,
  • some photos, clippings, representative references of all of the sculptor.

 

A photocopy of the passport for selected candidates not belonging to the Community European will be necessary to establish a tourist visa.
No document will be returned the deposit checks will be made at the end of the symposium.
The jury of the organization will meet on March 18, 2019 to select the participants. Selected candidates will be contacted by end of March by email or phone.
