Prokonessos Sculpture Symposium in Turkey
International Prokonessos Sculpture Symposium, Palaces will be held on the Marmara Island between 01 July and 01 August.
- The artists participating in the symposium will be determined by Marmara Adalar Municipality, based on the application files submitted by the artists. At the end of the symposium, each artist will receive a certificate of attendance and a plaque that has been approved by the Municipality of Marmara Islands.
- 6 artists and 2 assistants will participate in the symposium. One of the participants will be the Artist appointed as the President of the Municipality of Marmara Islands. The number of participants may be less than 6 if deemed necessary by the jury.
- Approximately 3 m3 Marmara Marble shall be used as the sculpture material.
- The theme of the symposium is to be placed in the Fairy Tale Park in Marmara Island. (Required information can be found at http://www.marmara.bel.tr and palaces_killerempozyumu@gmail.com link)
- Â The ownership of the works belongs to the Municipality of Marmara Islands. It is at the disposal of the Municipality to carry the works to the museum or to participate in temporary exhibitions. The artist permits viewing of the work process and the works. The Municipality of Marmara Adalar also has the right to use the images and to relocate the statue.
- Theshall works performed by the artists during the symposiumbe placed in the sculpture park which is being prepared by the Municipality of Marmara Adalar and at the places designated by the Symposium Committee and the Municipality of Marmara Islands when the park is completed.
- The artists who attend the symposium will be welcomed by the Municipality of Marmara Adalar for transportation, morning, lunch and dinner.
- Transportation, for artists from abroad ($ 1,000) for the participating artists from Turkey ($ 500) d. Each artist will provide the plane ticket itself.
- A total of TL 12,000 for each artist performing his work within the given time and place, as general expenses and copyright. (Twelve of the twelve) Payment will be made. Within the first five days of the symposium, a net cash payment of TL 7,000 (seven thousand Turkish Liras) will be made on the last day of the symposium.
- For residents, 5.000 TL (five thousand Turkish Liras) will be paid. Within the first five days of the symposium, the net 2,000TL (Two Thousand Thousand Lira) will be made on the last day of the symposium with a net cash payment of TL 3,000 (three thousand Turkish Liras).
- The participation of the artists who are not ready to attend the symposium or who are not present at the symposium within 3 days following the beginning of the symposium will be canceled.
- The artists are obliged to be in the symposium area during the working hours and to comply with the symposium calendar. Exceptional circumstances may be evaluated by the Symposium Committee.
- The visitors will be brought to the study area as visitor groups such as students, young people, cyclists, elderly people and disabled people. The artists will be able to perform an art workshop with the island children within 2 working days within 2 working days. It is recommended that the artists participating in the symposium to bring with them an introductory document containing visual material belonging to their cultural and artistic values or works belonging to their cities and countries, in order to share them with the islanders and art circles.

Working Conditions
A maximum of 3 cubic meters of marble shall be provided for the artists who will use marble as materials. Artists must specify the marble required for the creation of the work, and if necessary, the dimensions of the pedestal, as well as the equipment required for installation, in the application file.
Artists are obliged to bring electrical and small hand tools and their consumables themselves.
The technical solution and expense shall be borne by the artist in the use of additional materials other than assembly.
The artists shall be provided with 220V electricity, extension cable, canopy and crane and hilti in the symposium area.
In order to ensure safety in the working area, day and night security officers shall be kept.
The participants, third parties and employees during the symposium Marmara Islands Municipality will not be responsible for any direct, indirect, work or damage caused by.
A technician for the maintenance of all kinds of large / small cutter, perforator shall be responsible for the duration of the symposium.
Artists making their own accident insurance Tetanus, Hepatitis B, etc. vaccines.
The work shall be carried out in the open air. Artists must be prepared for weather conditions such as sudden rain and hot weather.
If the works cannot be carried out within the symposium period for any reason (except for force majeure), the right of the Municipality of Marmara Islands and the Symposium Committee to take decisions. As a result of these decisions, only Marmara Courts of Justice Court and Enforcement Directorates are authorized to eliminate any disputes that can be experienced by the artists and are not resolved through friendly solution.

Symposium Calendar
June 21, 2019 - Application deadline for symposium.
June 24, 2019 - Notification of the results to the applicants by e-mail.
June 27, 2019 - The last day for artists to attend the symposium to report their preferred arrival and departure details.
June 31, 2019 - Meeting: Meeting of artists, accommodation in accommodation.
01 July 2019 - Opening ceremony. The beginning of the symposium.
July 31, 2019 - Closing ceremony. Granting of participation certificates of the artists, general expenses and making payments of copyright.
01 August 2019 - Departure from the palaces. The artists who apply to attend the symposium are deemed to have accepted the symposium specification and calendar.

HOW TO APPLY:
The files which will be taken as basis for the selection of the artists to participate in the symposium shall include the following information and documents:
- Application form
- The resume in English or Turkish with a photo not exceeding a typewriter page.
- Visual document in jpeg format that introduces five works of art.
- Drawing of the artist from the symposium, drawing drawings, model drawings, additional materials to be used in sculpture, if any. If the artist deems necessary, a short description of the work in English or Turkish may be included in the file.
