The Krušné-mountain Wooden Sculpture Symposium 2020
The Memory of Landscape
Topic: SPRINGS
Our landscape has been a place where different nations have lived together for ages. Friendship and cooperation have contributed to the culture of the Krušné Mountains.
The goal of the symposium is to show wood as a fully-fledged sculpting material.
The organizers of this symposium have been inspired by the experience gained at many other symposiums. The statues accomplished last year were of high quality, and the organizers wish to maintain that level. The city of Klášterec nad Ohří wants to cultivate respect to traditional sculpting materials, and wants to create suitable conditions for the mutual enrichment of both sculptors and visitors.
Visitors are allowed to observe how a sculpture is created from the very beginning. This way the visitors get involved in the process of creation. It enables them to witness a lot of interesting moments, which for many of them, might be surprising. This experience brings a new point of view of visual arts to the visitors and nurtures their perception.
In the course of the symposium, workshops for pupils and students from the region and from the twin city of Großrückerswalde, Germany will be held.
The venue of the symposium:
the chateau in Klášterec nad Ohří.
It is located in the park, which lies on the left bank of the river Ohře. On one side of the river, there are the Doupovské Hills, on the other one the Krušné Mountains. The landscape is truly picturesque. The park is famous for its rich dendrological collection. In the chateau, there is a comprehensive chinaware exhibition.
