CALL FOR PUBLIC ART – BELGIUM
The municipality of Eghezée invites all artists to send their proposal for the installation of a work in the station district.
Its will, and that of the citizens involved in the process, is to support contemporary artistic creation and to offer an artist (s) to invest their public space in their creation while encouraging awareness among residents of the municipality, and familiarization with contemporary creation.
The work integrated into the public space will be lasting.
The project selection procedure takes place in two phases:
1. The call for projects - phase 1
This call is open to everyone and aims to solicit applications to designate a minimum of 4 projects to participate in the competition for the design of artistic integration in the Gare district in Eghezée.
The selection committee will therefore select a minimum of 4 proposals based on the examination of the application files.
No budget is planned during this phase 1 for the payment of the artists.
2. Project competition - phase 2
This second phase corresponds to the restricted competition concerning the minimum of the 4 candidates selected by the selection committee. It aims to allow these artists to refine their proposal (s) and defend them during a final jury. At the end of this second phase, the jury will select the winning project.
A global budget of 40,000 € including tax is reserved for the project; it covers the expenses of the selected candidates who will engage in phase 2 in order to deepen their artistic proposal, as well as the design fees, as well as the production and installation of the winning project. It also includes an amount reserved for the inauguration of the integration once it is finalized.
The work should satisfy the following requirements:
- Beautify the neighborhood, be visible and possibly colorful
- Bring the neighborhood and place to life, in particular by infusing a lively character through the association or suggestion of the water element and / or light and / or nature and / or reflective elements, and / or games transparency.
- Be interactive and possibly fun, evolving or even involve residents in its creation
- Give a sense of belonging to Eghezée as a whole (16 villages)
- Carry a message, a symbolism which is related to what creates bridges between people or villages, and which refers to the link, to the gathering.
- Be understandable by all, but at the same time do not reveal yourself too much and surprise.
