FIRE FESTIVAL 2022

The municipality of Käerjeng, in collaboration with AIESM, organizes the first edition in Luxembourg of the "Fire Festival" as part of Esch 2022, European Capital of Culture.
The aim is to give a contemporary note to an old tradition by professional visual artists creating fire sculptures on the occasion of the traditional “Fête des Brandons”, on the weekend of March 5-6, 2022.
This symposium brings together eight artists from Luxembourg and around the world. The artists are invited to create wood and straw sculptures, from 29 February to 4 March 2022. These sculptures will be set on fire together with the traditional pyres on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

Selection: 8 artists will be selected by the jury according to the application dossier, to be sent within November 26, 2021, h 24.00.
The theme is free.
Dimension of the work: maximum height 6 m.
Fees:  5.000,00 € TTC/artist. Fees are paid at the end of the festival.
Road costs : the artist committs to travel by the most possible economical means. Compensations : 1.000€ maximum for international flights, 400€ maximum for travelling by train or car.
Meals : lunch and dinner are offered to the selected artists only.
Accomodation in a hotel nearby: single room with shower and toilet, from the date of arrival of the artist until Sunday March 6th, 2022 included
