CALL FOR LAND ART PROJECTS - FRANCE

As part of the multidisciplinary festival «les heteroclites 2022» the call for projects aims at the production of artistic works in situ. In dialogue with the urban space of saint-lo, the selected works will aim to encourage meetings with the inhabitants and the districts where they live.
The artworks can be in any shape or form imagined by the artists.
Together the works will constitute «la fabrique des recontres» the usine of meetings.

Foreword
Since its creation in 1993, in a former refrigerated warehouse, the art plume association has formed a collective of visual artists. Since then, a festival has been organized every year. Entitled les heteroclites, it consists of promoting the mixing of the arts. This is the context of the call for projects «the usine of meetings». The festival will take place from june 6th to 11th. It is desirable that the proposed works can remain visible and intact until october, or more.

The call for projects
For this 25th anniversary of the festival les heteroclites we are renewing a call for artists for in situ projects called (the factory of encounters). This idea is for the artist to propose a piece of art in any form that will encourage both the relationship between the art works and its surroundings and bringing people and their enviroment together.

Project content objective
The artisitc intervention will take into account the space chosen by the artist in all its dimensions in a harmonious mannner, in connection with the theme «the usine of meetings». To renew the publics perception of a place, to open the publiques eye’s to a space that they are familiar with to encourage discussion within that community.

Durability and places of installation
The proposed works will be visible during the summer, until october. Several places for  installations are envisaged (photos available in the call for projects). All works must comply with the security conditions required for a public space. They will be in dialogue with the urban space and in compliance with safety regulations

Displinary fields
Throughout the duration of the project, the artists will be responsible both for the quality of the work, the durability and the required security. All specific aid in this period of realization must be clearly specified in the project and contractualized in advance.

Calendar
The call for applications will be published on 28th february 2022
The application deadline is midnight 18th april 2022.
The jury will decide on 26th april  2022.
Works will be implemented between may 02 and june 04 in the form of a residence.
Prospecting and scouting on the site may be possible between march 1st and april 09.
The association can be consulted during this study period for the definition of areas to be used for the evaluation of technical needs and possible partnerships.

Selection of candidates
Each entry  will be considered for its its artistic qualities and relevance to the theme of «the usine of meetings».
The association will pay attention in particular to the visual impact, viability and contribution to the project as a whole.
A jury composed of members of the association, an elected member of the town council and a member of a cultural profesional body will be responsible in choosing the projects that will work well with the programme of les heteroclites 2022.
Its decisions, which aim for the coherence of the programming as a whole, are irrevocable.

Residences and means of implementation
The projects will be implemented between 2nd of may and 4th of june 2022.

Production of works: provision of a workspace at art plume technical and logistical support will be possible

Reception in residence: accommodation is possible at the auberge des arts
Food is not included but there is a kitchen in the auberge press and comunication
There will be full support for the design and distribution of any comunication with the media including interviews with the press and organisation of meetings during the residency.
Artists will be required to have interviews with various local media during the residency.
The association would like to have access to, photos, videos, previous interviews , if available, that the artist may wish to provide during the residency (for promotional use).

Prize money
Each succesful canditate will recieve e2000 (2000€) in prize money. This includes transport and the cost of materials. The dismantling of the artwork will be the responsibility of the artist with the possible help of the association if needed.

HOW TO APPLY:
In order to apply, each candidate should send the following information:

• a resume of the artiste (cv).
• a project board showing a simulation from the point of view of the spectators (the project in situation), written explanation of the project and a technical description.
• an artistic book or an internet link demonstrating your experience.
• the presentation of an administrative or tax document allowing the ability of the applicant to issue invoices.

These information should be sent by email no later than 18th april, 2022, in a single document in pdf format, to: art-in-situ@artplume.org
Any document submitted after the deadline for submission will not be taken into account.
